Baking with Kids
During these difficult times, we know how hard it is to keep your little ones occupied, parents are working from home, homeschooling their children. We thought we'd share some child-friendly recipes to keep your little ones and you occupied.
Now is the time to start them off young, they will love it as much as you will. Great bonding time and also breaks up the day too. Why not schedule baking into their routine.
They can also decorate their lovely treats with sugarpaste, buttercream, fresh cream, ganache or even icing.
- Basic cake pops. You don't even need to make any cake for this. Use Oreos or any biscuit you like.
- Rocky road is perfect; you can opt the chocolate for more biscuits. They make great snacks.
- Yoghurt pops for a light snack during the day. They can add their favourite fruits.
- Cornflake cakes were something our mother's use to make all the time. An easy treat and you can use Rice Krispies too
- Vanilla cupcakes, allow them to mix the flour into the wet ingredients and decorate how they want. That way, they will enjoy eating them.
- Peanut butter and chocolate squares, let your children bash the biscuits and pat the mixture into the tin.
- Shortbread is a good one too, flavour the biscuits with extracts or orange zest. Cut them out using shaped cookie cutters. You can omit the rose petals and white chocolate for this. Decorate using coloured icing and add sprinkles on top.
- Blueberry muffins, easy to make and deliciously moreish. Great baking project for the kids.
