How to Oreo Cake Pops
We love making these; they are so easy and require no baking at all! Oreo cake pops are one of the first things you should know how to make! Not only does it get you in the kitchen but it also puts the new shiny weighing scale at work too.
Only three ingredients are required and will take you approximately 1.5 hours, leaving you pretty much the whole day to stuff your face! We use Oreo's, but if you don't have them, or dislike them, you can use any cream stuffed biscuit of your choice.
Ingredients:
- 400g Oreos
- 200g Cream cheese
- 200g white chocolate/candy melts (any colour of your choice)
- Trex (vegetable fat)
- Sprinkles of your choice
- Lollipop sticks (12-24)
- Polystyrene dummy (any shape)
Method:
- In a food processor, blitz the Oreos till they reach a fine crumb consistency.
- Pour into a large bowl and add the cream cheese. Mix until everything is incorporated fully.
- Roll them into 1 inch round balls. Place the oreo balls on a baking tray, and cool in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
- While the balls are chilling, melt the white chocolate/candy melts in the microwave. Melt the candy for 1 minute, stir, then continue to melt in 30-second increments until it's completely smooth. If the melted candy is still too thick for dipping, stir in small amounts of vegetable shortening (1 teaspoon at a time) until the candy is thin enough to dip the pops.
- When the balls are chilled, dip the end of the lollipop sticks into the melted candy then insert the stick into the cake pop. Once it's set, dip the entire ball into the melted candy and allow to set.
There are many variations of the Oreo biscuit: peanut butter, double stuffed, chocolate creme; you can use any variety you like, it doesn't have to be the original one!
